I contacted Appliance Repair, the appointment was booked for within 48 hours and I immediately received email and text confirmation of the date and time. Paul arrived within 20 mins of the booked appointment. He was friendly and respectful of our property. He proceeded to diagnose the issue and then virtually had to dismantle the freezer to make the repair. Once re-assembled, the unit started to work immediately and within a few hours the fridge was cold again. Paul was in attendance for about an hour. The invoice was delivered to my email as soon as the job finished and it was a reasonable charge. Paul left the unit and the kitchen clean and tidy. I was very happy with the service. I recommend Appliance Repair and will be happy to use them again.
Second time we’ve had to call Paul out. Last time he repaired our oven over Christmas. This time our 11 year old dishwasher was the patient. Unfortunately, the machine was beyond economical repair, however this didn’t stop Paul from trying for over an hour. He even planed down the integrated door free of charge so that it fitted more snugly. An honest appraisal followed, with advice that it was time for a new machine which we have now purchased from a local supplier. Amazingly, we then received an invoice with a discounted call out charge because the machine was irreparable. What a fantastic way to do business. It’s a great feeling to be able to trust a trade person implicitly to do the right thing by you. Paul is such a person and we highly recommend him to anybody with an appliance that needs repairs.
I am so pleased to have found these guys! I was expecting to have to buy a new dishwasher after it developed a fault, I messaged Paul on Friday, he replied quickly and had a good idea what the problem was, organised to come Monday with a new pump which they fitted really quickly and tidied up after themselves. That evening a ring went on my hob and I messaged Paul to ask if it’s something they could fix, but given the age he thought it unlikely as it was a discontinued part. On Wednesday they came out again as the dishwasher had a small leak – fixed that quickly and then brought out a ring for my hob that he happened to have from years back, that he’d kindly dug out for me just in case it might work and fitted that too! What I thought was going to be £1000+ and fitting for a new dishwasher and hob cost me less than 10% of that!! Over the moon

This could be due to a blocked pump or filter.
Try draining or removing the water from the appliance and then opening the pump cover. On washing machines this normally the petrol cap style filter at the base of the appliance. This needs to be unscrewed anti-clockwise to access the pump and filter. If this is stiff do not force it as it will break and require replacement of the pump unit.
Please check that you don’t have an unbalanced load. Even one item of washing can cause the anti-spin device to be activated. Best check the appliance empty to see if it will spin. If the drum will not turn at all or struggles to turn then it’s possible the motor brushes are worn and will need to be replaced. These will need to be replaced by an Engineer.
This always normally due to constant low temperature washing (40 Deg Celsius and below). The machine requires a periodic wash (once a month) at high temperature to clean out the sludge build up caused by low temperature washing. This will also help to keep the door seal clean of sludge and mould. Modern machines use very little water and are designed to wash at low temperatures but the down side is that they are prone to smelling musty and the washing smelling as well.
This is often due to worn bearings on the drum. It’s often likened to the noise an aircraft makes on takeoff! Sadly this repair is now uneconomic and requires a replacement appliance. This is due to the way applainces are now made and this repair is very labour intensive. It can also be unreliable as when the drum shaft gets worn it can damage the new bearings quickly.
You need to check the clock is set to a time as many ovens require this to operate. If the clock is flashing or there are symbols flashing then try pushing some buttons to set to manual operation.
An oven that turns on (lights, fan, display work) but does not produce heat is commonly caused by a burnt-out element, or a broken temperature sensor. First, check if the circuit breaker tripped, then inspect the heating elements for blistering or breaks, and try resetting the oven. If you cannot get it to work, get in touch to book a callout.
This could be due to a blocked pump or filter. Try draining or removing the water from the appliance and then opening the pump cover. On dishwashers there is normally a removable cover inside the dishwasher in the sump area.
You do need to check that the power is getting to the appliance. Trace the power cable from the appliance to the socket and plug something else in that socket to check that power is at the socket. The appliance socket might be switched via a spur box elsewhere and might have inadvertently got switched off. It’s worth spending a few minutes checking as it can be expensive if an engineer has to turn a switch on that has inadvertently got switched off!
